The Santo Domingo Indians are famous for their skill in making these tiny hand rolled and cut beads known as heishi. Made from shell, turquoise, and other stones, they are painstakingly cut by hand into delicate beads and strung on necklaces.

This gorgeous necklace was made by Santo Domingo artist Jose Rosetta. The necklace measures 22 1/2 inches in length plus 3 1/2 inches of sterling silver chain and is finished with sterling silver cones anda clasp. The necklace is made of 5 strands of handcut heishi beads cut from melon shell, turquoise, serpentine, pipestone. The beads measure 1/8 inch in diameter each.
