Philander Begay is the younger brother of Philander Begay and excels at tufa casting. He was taught by Darryl and the detail in his work is incredible. This beautiful bola tie is made of sterling silver with a horse head design. It measures 2 7/8 inches by 1 7/8 inches at the widest points.

The braided black leather tie measures 44 inches in length and is finished with tufa cast sterling tips, each measuring 1 1/2 inches in length.

Philander uses only Hopi tufa stone in his work, which is the finest quality of tufa stone as it is very fine and allows him to cut his intricate designs into the stone. After each piece is made, he destroys the tufa stone.
